Has anyone tried and had any success upgrading from 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTS without breaking anything? If not, are there any plans to officially support 16.04 in the future?

Just by searching about for you I got: Upgrade to 16.04.1? . and https://github.com/mail-in-a-box/mailinabox/issues/758 . Still same status.
Well, only reason I asked is those are dated, and didn’t see anything in Github about any headway or even progress made toward migrating.
Always welcome! but perhaps posting in the already open topics rather than opening a new one could be the best option then. Hope the answer helped anyway.
AFAIK, the thought process is that MIAB will upgrade to the next LTS version of Ubuntu after 16.04, so 18.04 and migrate directly to that, thus ensuring the longest support cycle between upgrades.
TLDR: If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.
