The IP address sending this message does not 550-5.7.1 have a PTR record setup. As a policy, Gmail does not accept messages 550-5.7.1 from IPs with missing PTR records

Hello,

im a bit confused atm. Im running mailinabox since a few months now and never had any problems.
But since today i cannot send any message to a @gmail.com address. Im getting this error from the
gmail bounce:

The IP address sending
this message does not 550-5.7.1 have a PTR record setup. As a policy, Gmail
does not accept messages 550-5.7.1 from IPs with missing PTR records.

Does anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

Kind regards,
Kay

EDIT: And for more information: i use mailinabox with glue records and only the domain and the subdomain www has a different record.

Hi @AskoProducts,

An easy way to determine whether you have an accurate pointer and A record combination is:

  1. Go to http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?#
  2. Type in your MIAB IP Address and click the down arrow, then Reverse Lookup.
  3. You should see your MIAB domain name, e.g. mailboxes.example.com.

If you do not see the name of your MIAB server then your PTR record is improperly set or absent. You will need to set this at your server hosting provider such as Vultr, DigitalOcean, or Linode, etc.
