Nsd - number of records limitation?

Are there any limitations within nsd with regards to the number of CNAME or A records which may be added for a domain?

Not that I know of. There are probably some practical limitations and DNS resolvers might have a limit.

I might have about 20 CNAMEs set to point at one machine which hosts micro-services and it’s just suddenly given up on serving any of the new records. What on earth could be causing this flakiness.
