MIAB greylisting local mailbox

Hi there,
I’m running MIAB since few weeks without problems, until today I got the message about recipient addresses being rejected with a link to http://postgrey.schweikert.ch. One of the rejected addresses is local mailbox being managed by MIAB, so actually MIAB rejects its own address.
It doesn’t make any sense, does it?
Best regards,
Tomasz

I think I’ve fixed it - I tried to sent the message from my iPhone where I hadn’t yet entered credentials for SMTP. Now I’ve entered the same credentials as for IMAP and it has worked.

I don’t quite understand how it could have happened: that iPhone didn’t want the credentials - why are the optional? And that obviously MIAB STMP accepted the message per se and answered with recipients’ addresses being rejected instead of just telling me to enter the credentials and rejecting the whole communication. The error message is misleading.

What happened was that you connected in the same way that all incoming mail to you connects to your Mail-in-a-Box, so the mail was treated the same way other incoming mail is treated. The blame (for the confusion) is with the folks who came up with the SMTP protocol many decades ago and the iPhone UI engineers, unfortunately.
