Accessing other user inbox

Hello!

I want to start by expressing my thanks for this great piece of software. It is very easy to use and has worked without problems.

I only have one question: is it possible to gain access to a user’s mailbox without having to change the account password? I searched high and low for a solution but to no avail so far.

Alternatively, is there a way to implement a mail forwarding so that when the respective user sends or receives e-mail, it will be forwarded to another e-mail address?

Thank you in advance for your assistance in these matters!

Best regards,
George

For your first question, what you are looking for is called “MasterUser” in the IMAP mail server (dovecot) docs.

Follow the above instructions to create your master user & password file.

I added the conf stuff (“auth_master_user_sepa…”) to this file:

/etc/dovecot/conf.d/99-local-masterauth.conf

Then in order to integrate it easily into the web on roundcube use this older but functioning plugin:

I have tried it and it works well for my needs. Make sure the password is super hard and long and does not get out!
