I have seen several security vulnerabilities regarding Bind9, which is a DNS server. I wanted to know if Mail-in-a-Box uses Bind9, or which DNS server it uses, since I am wanting to post relevant security vulnerabilities on the forum.
AFAIK MIAB uses NSD.
We use nsd
as the public, non-recursive nameserver (i.e. the service that lets other systems resolve the domains hosted on the box) and also bind9
as a private, recursive, DNSSEC-enabled nameserver (i.e. when the box has to look up domains in order to send outgoing mail).
