Using a smarthost

Is there a possibility to send mail, using an external smarthost? I’m setting up a server in a company network, but port 25 on our ISP’s end is blocked. We do have the possibility to relay the mail to our ISP’s SMTP on port 587, using our company’s login credentials.
I do know there are other mailservers that support this option (i.e. our current server Kerio).

No it’s not something the box can do.

So using an external relay is out of the question too?

Is there a difference between a smarthost and an external relay?

Curious if this has changed with the recent releases? I have to also get around port 25, and have postfix configured on a different webserver to send out alerts and it’s working just fine. Tried to make the changes to main.cf and having issues.

Thanks,
Jonathan

There hasn’t been a change.

Bummer, ok thanks! Any plan on that feature in the future?

Thank!

It’s not something I intend to add, but if someone else wants to add it I would accept it.

Myself and, from reading other posts, a few others would like to see this happen…please? Hoping this bump helps constitute a re-consideration to adding an ability to use an external relay. thx

It’s not something I intend to add, but if someone else wants to add it [i.e. if someone else does the work] I would accept it.
