Inflight Ubuntu upgrades are not supported, only fresh installs. People have run into all sorts of issues when doing this. Not saying it can not work but you need to be prepared. Suggest searching the forum as there are multiple threads
The supported option is to create a new VPS and migrate the data or restore a backup.
Alright, searched for topics on how to migrate MIAB from one server to another, but all I find are things like how to backup using Rsync and scripts…etc…etc…
What do I need to backup exactly from MIAB so I can move those folders/files over to the new install of MIAB on the new server?
I assume it’s just a “copy over” to new server action?
The backup functionality is integrated into MiaB on the admin section
Restore on the new server is a command line process
If you are looking for advice to copy the data directly to a new server, other members of the forum need to chip in for that.
This is detailed is explained in the maintenance documentation or on 3th party websites
Besides the upgrade guide, I always advice to try it out first. Spin up a VPS, and follow the installation guide to install MiaB, restore a backup. Then see if you encounter issues, which you can resolve in your own time. Because the nrw VPS bas another ip address, your mail will still be delivered to the original box.
