Hello staff
any plans for Mail in Box to support the installation on Ubuntu version 24.04 ?
thank you !
No, we’ve been tracking every-other Ubuntu LTS release, so the next one would be 26.04.
Any workaround??
I have decided to go with MIAB but really cannot downgrade to the 22 LTS (enterprise requirement).
Is it safe if i tinker around the installation script to make it work?
I can’t say something is safe that I haven’t done.
You could use an incus/lxd container with Ubuntu 22.04 for it, although not officially supported. It works well for me after configuring the routing for the inbound ports and running the setup with DISABLE_FIREWALL=1 PUBLIC_IP="..." PUBLIC_IPV6="..." setup/start.sh
A rather creative way of getting around corporate requirements, I’ll give you that
But at the end of the day, it still runs on Ubuntu 22.04 with exactly the same versions of the packages as if it were installed directly on Ubuntu 22.04, which is still fully supported by Cannonical by the way, and a company could also subscribe to Ubuntu Pro to get security updates for virtually all the packages used.
So I’d argue that this workaround is potentially less secure (assuming it’s used without Ubuntu Pro) than a bare-metal installation on Ubuntu 22.04 with an Ubuntu Pro subscription
