It’s been a while since I’ve looked at mailinabox and I just had an easy question. What are the technical limits of mailinabox? Is there a mailbox size limit or a user limit? What is the recommended user count maximum?
I looked around and used the search function on the forum but couldn’t find what I was looking for.
Technically there are no “limits” however it will be limited by the hardware it is running on.
Thank you for the fast response! Is there any documentation showing recommended specs?
I don’t believe so but I would recommend the following as BARE minimum.
- 1GB RAM
- 1 CPU @ 1.00GHz (The faster the better)
- 1 NIC @ 10Mb/s or more (So AT&T DSL or better in U.S.)
- 50GB HDD space (Obviously the more the better if you plan on using MIAB’s cloud storage as well)
My current specs with 20 users running flawlessly:
- 2GB RAM
- 4 CPU @ 3.00GHz each (Because SPEED)
- 1 NIC @ 100Mb/s
- 500GB HDD
The setup page recommends:
We recommend going over to Digital Ocean, Linode, 1&1, or Rimuhosting.com. You must choose the Ubuntu 14.04 x64 operating system and a machine with at least 1 GB of RAM. This setup currently costs around $10/month, depending on which provider you choose. RE: https://mailinabox.email/guide.html#domain-name-registration
I recommend https://nocix.net if you are in the United States. for $25 / Month you get 2TB storage, 4 CPU cores @ 3GHz and 16GB RAM. (I am using this plan at nocix for VM Hosting) and it’s flawless so far and I have been their customer for over 3 years.
