I am trying to add MX records to a subdomain hosted here in my box. mg.mydomain.com.
I plan use this domain for sending out bulk a announcements and newsletters through my website.
When I try to set the MX Record I get this error.
500 Internal Server Error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.
If I close this window and click the Set Record button again I get Ok and it seems to be set but never gets picked up by Mailgun.
How are you trying to add the MX record? I am actually curious why you are entering MX records if your MiaB is hosting your mail for the sub-domain. Can you please advise?
I am trying to add the MX record via the Custom DNS page. Is this not something that can be done?
I wasn’t going to use this subdomain to receive mail so I don’t have MiaB hosting mail for the sub-domain. Mailgun requires an MX record to be set for delivery to work.
I also couldn’t figure out how to add an e-mail address on a subdomain in MaiB. Can you explain how I could do that?
Once you have added a new user, you can then use the Custom DNS page to modify and add the necessary records for Mailgun to be happy.
A good part of this article is irrelevant but it does explain quite well how to set up Mailgun. You’ll only want to be concerned with the “Configuring Your DNS Records” section…
You have helped me solve another problem. Worked like a charm.
I deleted all the Custom entries I made and then created the use like you explained. Setup the proper settings as per Mailgun instructions with the MX records. Voila! E-mail came through.
