All of the necessary details are in the admin area.
Look under Mail>Instructions.
Can you take a screenshot of the set-up window? I’ve had trouble there before because I didn’t set all of the settings correctly.
I found that the IMAP and SMTP servers showed “.domain.com” and not “box.domain.com” and all of the other options were set to autodetect. You might want to set the ports and protocols, ie, 993 SSL/TLS for IMAP and 587 STARTTLS for SMTP.
I don’t check back here often, so apologies if these steps don’t help and I don’t reply promptly.

I’m reviving this old thread because it is the closest thing I could find to my question.
I’ve reviewed previous replies, and I’ve read the instructions on the admin page. So far, it seems clear, but here’s the question I still have. It seems that choosing between IMAP and POP3 is all a matter of settings in Thunderbird. There are no settings to be changed in my MIAB server. Is that correct?
Correct since MiaB allows both type of access, it doesn’t really care what the end user preference is
