ownCloud RoundCube Contacts Sync

I am just getting started, and I want to be able to sync my contacts between Thunderbird and round mail via ownCloud. I found this PR, which makes it seem like it should work now, but I can’t find any documentation and nothing seems to be syncing automatically.

Any ideas if/how I can get this working?

Given the lack of response I am just going to assume this isn’t possible, it is a shame though.

Are there any plans to make this work/replace roundcube/owncloud with something else? I can see several active development discussions on github to that effect.
