Hello, thank you for maintaining and supporting MIAB.
Is there a list of VPS providers where newbies like me can set up MIAB successfully without issues with port 25? I see that rules change over time, and a provider that worked earlier may not work now.
Can folks please reply with VPS providers where they have been able to set up MIAB recently (in 2023) with new accounts? If you setup your account in the past but are certain that a particular provider works currently, please reply as well.
I recommend you use LightNode.com, but please inform them that you want to unblock SMTP port 25 and pay the security deposit of US $100. LightNode.com is based in Hong Kong and outside U.S. law, so U.S. government cannot spy on you. LightNode supports IPv4 only but have servers throughout the world.
Alternatively, you can try VPSmalaysia.com.my. They are dual stack and support both IPv4 and IPv6. They do not block SMTP port 25.

VPSmalaysia seems to have attractive offers. But their Linux Hosting options only have Ubuntu 20.04, nor 22.04
Is it possible to run MIAB latest version on 20.04?
Gregory, I am running one Mail In A Box (MIAB) instance using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 64bit Minimal from vpsmalaysia.com.my. Please do not use the Ubuntu 20.04 but use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 64bit Minimal. It works fine and the MIAB latest version installs automatically.
Thanks for your response. The manual says v61.1 of MIAB will only install on 22.04… Is that not correct? Or am I missing anything?
Just one thing to add: Ubuntu 18.04 is reaching the end of its support in May 2023. Longer support will only be possible with paid Ubuntu Pro subscription. Does not sound good…
Gregory, when I installed MIAB, I installed the latest version available on https://mailinabox.email on Ubuntu 18.04 available on both vpsmalaysia.com.my and lightnode.com
Yes, Ubuntu 18.04 will be reaching end of its support in May 2023 but there is nothing to be afraid about that. I do not need the paid support subscription as I can self support my own mail server.
I understood your point, thanks.
You set up Ubuntu 18.04 a while ago and it is still working and will keep on working for perhaps a long time.
Yet I believe there is no point in setting up 18.04 now. I want to try a more recent version.
But thanks for your advice anyway!
At least I have your review of vpsmalaysia.com.my as a reliable VPS provider.
