I own a domain.
Been using neomailbox.net and have created an alias based on the owned domain.
When I run through the set up for box.name.tld and put in the same email address, one that is linked to neomailbox are there any extra steps,will I have a disaster on my hands?
Also I use Thunderbird as a desktop client. No issues?

I would say, test it yourself and see how far you come with the installation and what does and doesn’t work with Thunderbird. Without any knowledge is might be better to pay a little for services as neomailbox.
