Forwarding only non-spam

Hey Team,

I’m fairly new to MIAB. I’ve got it set up for multiple domains. Each is forwarding all incoming mail to a miab service user in that domain each of which I’ve set up with a filter that forward to gmail.

This all works fine, but there is some easy to identify spam that is slipping by the internal spam filter. The service user filter forwards that spam to gmail which rejects it. I fear that will give this mail server a bad reputation, so I’d like to filter that spam away before it gets forwarded.

It’s easy enough to create an additional rule that “moves” these spam notes to the Junk folder. That all works, but…

but the mail still gets forwarded to gmail as well. I’ve tried dragging the rules around to reorder them, but that doesn’t seem to change the behavior.

How do I set up the filters so that only the mail that is not moved by other rules is forwarded?

Not sure what filter you use, but usually there’s a “stop applying more rules” or something like that. So, you would have:

  • Rule triggers on spam
** move mail to spam folder
    ** stop processing more rules
  • Rule triggers on all mail
    ** forward mail to Gmail

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction. My problems was that I didn’t see the Action list in the Filter edit page is scrollable. If I scroll down, I can see there is a “Stop evaluating rules” action that can be used as you suggest.
