Duplicity error [nov 2025]

After a recent apt-update, duplicity no longer functions for me. Doing a system check gets the following error
"ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'duplicity.__main__'"

Edit: do not use this fix. Use the fix from the second post in this thread.

The fix was to install the snap version of duplicity. Instructions on how to install a working copy were taken from here:

Now that I’ve posted the above, I was able to find the following post

This is a better solution than the one posted above as it doesn’t involve changing the installed packages - which could create problems in the future.

I will work through this solution as well and incorporate an updated thread with latest AWS deployment tips and scripts for managing Mail-In-A-Box on AWS.

If you have instructions for how this fix is applied it would be appreciated so that I can make my post comprehensive.
