Does a Mail-in-Box user have to use Roundcube or can Squirrel Mail be used?
I guess you could install Squirrel Mail on a separate server and then manually connect it to one or multiple mailboxes that are hosted on your Mail-in-a-Box instance. But as for Mail-in-a-Box itself and it’s scripts, only Roundcube will get installed and only Roundcube is supported.
