Cannot edit A record in Custom DNS {solved}

I am setting up MiaB to replace email and DNS for someone who currently is paying an obscene amount of money to a web hosting company for this.

That said his websites are live being hosted on other servers than the MiaB install. The MiaB status page shows that for the root domain and the www subdomain records

This domain should resolve to your box’s IP address (A 17.10.8.20) if you would like the box to serve webmail or a website on this domain. The domain currently resolves to 14.4.21.4 in public DNS. It may take several hours for public DNS to update after a change. This problem may result from other issues listed here.

OK, that is CORRECT but I want to set the IP records in my box to match the IP’s that the domains are currently resolving to so that when I make the switch at the registrar the sites will still work … but I cannot.

I get …

Custom DNS (Error)

Invalid name.

Any suggestions?

The solution — make sure that there are no spaces in front of the sub-domain.
