I’d like to ask if I’m able to rename the ns1.box.yourdomaincom ns2.box.yourdomaincom to potentially ns1.mail.yourdomaincom ns2.mail.yourdomaincom. And also changing the box.yourdomaincom to mail.yourdomaincom. Will that affect anything? I feel a bit off having a box as the prefix of the domain.
And I think it would be a bit off if the nameservers for my domains were called ns1.mail.mydomain.tld etc… Maybe you can look at it from this perspective and save yourself the trouble. By the way, box is part of the word mailbox, but can also mean computers, which are often called boxes in everyday (IT) language
As for your actual question, yes, it is possible by simply re-running the installation script. However, this will involve downtime because you’ll have to adjust the name server settings at your registrar, and DNSSEC if enabled, plus you’ll have to reconfigure all your email clients, and probably a few other things I haven’t thought of…
