After applying v057 error banned ip

my public ip keeps banning out at fail2ban also cannot use webmail cant reach server,
I use fail2ban-client set dovecot unbanip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to remove by does not remove also I addes ignoreip = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/32 :11 to jain.conf but it does not work

help

Maybe I could suggest

sudo service fail2ban stop

Until you figure it out. It will leave you vulnerable but I’m guessing that fail2ban might not be working correctly anyways.

# WARNING: heavily refactored in 0.9.0 release. Please review and
# customize settings for your setup.
#
# Changes: in most of the cases you should not modify this

# See man 5 jail.conf for details.

# "backend" specifies the backend used to get files modification.
# Available options are "pyinotify", "gamin", "polling", "systemd" and "auto".
# This option can be overridden in each jail as well.

# pyinotify: requires pyinotify (a file alteration monitor) to be installed.

# polling: uses a polling algorithm which does not require external libraries.
# systemd: uses systemd python library to access the systemd journal.

# Note: if systemd backend is chosen as the default but you enable a jail

Oh, and I think the mailinabox specific config file is located here:

/etc/fail2ban/jail.d/mailinabox.conf

Again, v56 of the file posted below:

# Fail2Ban configuration file for Mail-in-a-Box. Do not edit.
# This file is re-generated on updates.

# ping services over the public interface so we should whitelist that address of
# ours too. The string is substituted during installation.

Did you previously edit any configuration files? The recent upgrade would have made everything default, undoing previous changes.

Also, in /etc/fail2ban/jail.d/mailinabox.conf you might need ensure that the ignoreip line includes your IPv6 address (should already be there) and your router address (won’t be there). The router address is needed if the router is doing hairpin routing for outbound packets on status tests etc.
