Adding subdomains (aka subzone) doesn't work

Hello, on my smoothly running box, i’m trying to add a subdomain with the curl command, but although i can see the subdomain added in the zone file, the box still doesn’t resolve giving back this answer
**server can’t find subdomain.mymaindomain.net: NXDOMAIN

Any suggestion would be very appreciated

Further investigations revealed that a pre-esistent CNAME record was preventing the DNS from work correcty, removed CNAME fixed all errors now.

Leave this open for future reference.
