SpamAssassin Mail Filter Daemon: disabled - Message on boot

Hello all,

When my server boots, I get the following message:

SpamAssassin Mail Filter Daemon: disabled, see /etc/default/spamassassin

This has happened on all VPS machines I’ve set up. I have noticed that the service “spampd” is actively running after the computer boots. Does this message mean that there’s an issue with spamassassin or can I ignore it? I did notice if I VIM /etc/default/spamassassin, I’m able to change the setting to turn on spamassassin. So it’s turned off by default in my spamassassin settings. Should I turn this on or leave it alone if spampd already runs after boot?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bumping this to get a comment from someone. Thanks everyone.

Spamassassin is running, just not as a daemon. Your inbound mail is proxied through spampd to spamassassin.

All is well and working as it should.

Great! Thank you for your comment and confirmation on it. It’s all I needed to know .
