There’s a user here that got various advice, but they never reported what worked for them.
My thinking is that the easiest way is:
- Read Mail-in-a-Box Maintenance Guide
- Update to v0.30
- Save your user-data folder
- Install the new machine with Ubuntu 22.04 and the latest Mail in a Box
- Restore the user-data folder, as per the maintenance guide.
- See if it works.
But that might not work, as JoshData indicates you will skip a number of upgrade steps. If it doesn’t work, you might have to upgrade with an intermediate step via Ubuntu 18.04. So:
- Read Mail-in-a-Box Maintenance Guide
- Update to v0.30
- Save your user-data folder
- Install the new machine with Ubuntu 18.04 and the latest Mail in a Box
- Restore the user-data folder, as per the maintenance guide.

- Install the new machine with Ubuntu 22.04 and the latest Mail in a Box
- Restore the user-data folder, as per the maintenance guide.
- See if it works.
You might want to do a dry run of this first, before you stop using the old server.
Make sense?
