It seems that our interface didn’t apply the registry rule in this case, as other TLDs allow sub-domains as glues.
We have contacted our technical team concerning this issue.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
Ok! Everything seems to be working even though you have ns1 and ns2 as the nameservers with the registrar rather than ns1.box and ns2.box.
Although, @murgero seems to be adamant that it will not work.
My concern at this point would be if there is something that will go tilt in the future because of this contradiction with the nameservers …
@joshdata will you please 1)offer your opinion on this issue and 2) add .gg to the list of TLDs to avoid when setting up MiaB based on the information in this thread provided by the OP that originated from Gandi?
Additional info:
due to the difference between ns[12] and ns[12].box, they were errors in some dns reporting websites (https://gwhois.org/gayet.gg+dns), but no errors in MIAB admin, so I added the following entries in custom dns
Domain Name
Record Type
Value
ns1.gayet.gg
A
142.93.160.68
ns2.gayet.gg
A
142.93.160.68
After that, no errors at all, nowhere (for how many time…)
I think @alento’s suggestion to use a different domain for the box domain is really the only reliable solution. I’m not sure if the configuration you ended up with is legit. I mean, if it works, great! No need to change something that works. But I’d be cautious creating a complicated setup like that.
As for the original problem- Some TLDs like to enforce a minimum of two distinct IP addresses for glue records. Most don’t. For many years I ran a high-traffic website with one IP address set on two glue records and it was fine.
If one of you could open a pull request on the website repository to document the problem with this TLD, I’d merge it.
I have opened an issue on GitHub Additional ccTLD’s to avoid however I haven’t a clue how to create a pull request. I would gladly do this if I could figure out how to do so.
Sometimes Goofle can be your friend. I think I have successfully submitted a pull request.
