I feel such anti spam mechanism wastes times and is not anti spam since spammers send marketing email unsolicited about a product like pornography and these spammers know how to bypass delaying. Most legit email gets delayed by greylisting.

True that incoming email gets delayed, but only for the first email from each sender. And you can whitelist senders or domains - just add the file /etc/postgrey/whitelist_clients.local, each line is a domain or IP address.

I think you’ll find most people find greylisting very effective at reducing spam, maybe not 100% but very close. The occasional delayed signup email is annoying, but I get almost zero spam through my MIAB accounts.

PS. Well configured servers normally resend after short (eg. 1 min) but doubling delays, so greylisting usually only delays for a few minutes. If someone has their server set to resend after 2 hrs, it’s more a problem with the sender than a problem with greylisting.
