The packaged version of Duplicity is now 3.2.0.2, which includes a fix of this problem. Running
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
then running
sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get autoclean --yes && sudo apt-get check
will correctly upgrade the software packages used by MiaB including Duplicity.
